I know, I'm trying to say that he's just saying that their training is intense, not that ours isn't.
I think he's talking his side up rather than knocking ours.

When Slav pops off for a cig break maybe he insists all the squad go with him? Rothmans League training methods! In seriousness, this isn't the first time is it? No, erm, smoke without fire and all dat.

I reckon the swan and carp diet he's introduced is to blame for the personnel issues this season.

So Stam has not specifically criticised the WHU training regime he has simply expressed surprise at Oxford's lack of readiness or whatever.

There does seem to be something in this. Although we played with such intensity last year I find it hard to believe that we've changed our training methods.

If it was a one off and we hadn't looked off the pace so often I'd have been all over telling Stam and his tinpot club to fuck right off. But the evidence is piling up that says Slav has a mates culture and they don't train properly. Oxford ought to be walking into that Reading side but he ain't, thought that was strange but now it appears he's a fat bastard like the rest of the squad. Bilic is catfood walking isn't he?

'The players don't train hard enough at West Ham' - Jaap Stam
'The players don't train hard enough at West Ham' - Enner Valencia
'The players don't train hard enough at West Ham' - Simone Zaza
'The players don't train hard enough at West Ham' - Slaven FUCKING BILIC!
Yeah the croatian zombie is as good as gone. Total joke club, no wonder quality players don't want to sign for us.

I heard earlier in the season that the training was like a holiday camp. Got a mate that's mates with Collins and he said it's a joke over there. He reckons noble takes his dogs over there. Wouldn't surprise me either, we've always seemed to not be as professional as other teams.

Call me a dumb f**k but isn't it Billic's job to sort out the intensity of training? not use it as an excuse for Arsenal handing are arse to use at home!!

because as I stated, he was very obsessed with fitness and training. For all his criticisms and flaws (and there are plenty), the intensity of training was never one of them, at least from what we fans have heard from players and ex-players. As Bilic's immediate predecessor, it's worth looking at, imo.

All the players mentioned above have either spent long periods injured or didnt have a decent pre-season. I can imagine that training for players coming out of injuries etc.. is different to the rest of the team.
Also, if its actual fitness we are talking about then we are as fit as any team around. We can run to the 95th minute at full speed every game. I dont see that as a problem.
If its the actual drilling of positional stuff, and tactical then yeah, we tend to fall asleep alot. That definitely needs sorting out.

Re: Jaap Stam criticises Bilic's training methods

Intensity in training = motivational problem
Intensity of training = logistical problem
They can be related. If the latter is too much or not enough, it will negatively affect the former. I think the current article is talking about the latter. I think Bilic after arsenal was talking about the former.
As others have pointed out, we did fade badly at the end of last year which could have been a problem with training too intensely or not enough. Fat Sam was always obsessed (and presumably still is) with tracking training intensity, minutes played, etc. that's why he eschewed the cup competitions to maintain fitness. So did Bilic maybe inherit a very fit squad which slowly lost its edge due to less intense methods, much like the defence? It's really difficult to say, and even if we were to accept that, Fat Sam had his injury problems as well and never come close to a season like the last one.

3 times, 4 if you include Bilic himself.
Valencia, Zaza and now Stam.
Bilic even said we lack intensity in training after the Arsenal defeat.
It is a bit worrying and does show with the amount of late goals we concede.
